Whether you are being transferred to the Lexington area by your employer or just considering a move here on your own, you have come to exactly the right place for all the information and guidance you will need!
You will find that Central Kentucky and Lexington, in particular, is a lovely place to live. Springtime is exceptional in these parts, but the countryside is lush and green through much of the year. We have four seasons but winters are mild with not enough snow to please most of the kids.
If you were watching the Today Show on October 20, 2009 you would have seen that Lexington has been judged by Children's Health Magazine, on the basis of 29 criteria, to be one of the best cities in the United States to raise kids(#6 of a 100). I must add that the weather is pretty awful in most of the top five cities making Lexington all the more desirable.
We have many lovely homes in all styles and price ranges. One of the first things you will discover if you are new to this area, is how wonderfully affordable they are, particularly when compared with most other parts of the Country. For starters, check out My Listings and spend some time Searching the MLS for your perfect home.
With the University of Kentucky as a magnet for business, the economy is good and jobs are available for many different occupations. We feature Lexington's Historical Past but live productively in the present. Lexington is a very friendly place to live and you will feel right at home here.
For starters, you should have an overview of the Central Kentucky area as it is really quite diverse. I would be happy to show you some of our more notable landmarks, introduce you to a few nice representative Lexington Neighborhoods, and give you some perspective on home values.
If you are just coming to Lexington to look around for a couple of days, my favorite spot is the
Hilton at Lexington Green. It's not the nicest or the newest hotel in town but the setting is perfect. Lexington Green is an enclave right off New Circle Road and adjacent to Fayette Mall. The hotel is set on a small lake surrounded by a wonderful shopping area featuring excellent restaurants and even a comedy club. But best of all is the Joseph Beth Bookstore, one of the most entertaining places I have found in a long time. Actually, it's more like a very contemporary library where you can spend hours just browsing.
If you need a place to stay on a longer temporary basis, I have several suggestions that you may want to consider, one of which, The Racquet Club
is very nice for a short stay. Lexington is a City where many of the folks make their Churches
an important part of their lives and we have numerous Church communities of all faiths. You may also want an overview of our
Lexington Schools
which are excellent.
I have provided below some links to our City and others relevant to buying a home. Here's a new one that I just discovered the other day called Movearoo which may be helpful to you during your relocation.
